Job Title: Graduate Java Developer
Location: Largely Remote (2x in-office per week initially, then predominantly remote)
Salary: 25,000 - 35,000
Applause IT are looking for a Graduate Java Developer on behalf of a leading supplier of bespoke solutions to the law enforcement sector. Their software team designs, develops, and supports cutting-edge applications that directly impact policing institutions in the UK. They specialise in creating web and mobile applications, middleware solutions, and consulting on innovative approaches to technical challenges.
As a Graduate Java Developer, you will:
- Join a small, collaborative development team.
- Work with policing customers to design, build, and support bespoke products.
- Take ownership of projects and gain experience across the full software lifecycle.
- Travel to customers across the UK and abroad to build relationships.
- Contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, and deployment.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Ideally a graduate or junior developer with a strong programming background (degree or equivalent qualification).
- Commercial experience with Java.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and Linux (preferably Red Hat or Rocky).
- British national capable of obtaining security clearance (DV required).
- A valid driving license.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with J2EE, JPA, GWT/GXT, and Vaadin.

The position is largely remote, with an initial requirement to attend the office twice a week before transitioning to a predominantly remote setup.
