Providing Operational support to the Strategic Road Network, working on technical aspects of the nationwide telecommunications equipment.

What you'll do:

You will be within a Front-Line Operational environment, understanding the issues and risks required as a basis for first line operational engineering. You will learn the supporting processes and pre-requisite operational knowledge required to allow you to develop an understanding of a service centre. This opportunity will offer rotations in Telent's Service Support in-house tech teams, allowing you to build a broad range of knowledge from understanding access issues, physical and logical, to the business importance of accurate ticket management of incidents.

  • Provision of 2nd and 3rd line remote and in person IT support of End User Computer environment, software distribution and software packaging.
  • Learn how to document existing IT solutions and processes
  • Identify improvements to existing IT solutions and process
  • Install, configure, upgrade and support hardware such as laptops, desktops, printers and telephony
  • Incident, Service Request & Asset management
  • On site support and touch labour for other ICT related services
  • Implements and supports solutions for the End User Compute environment
  • Implement industry-accepted security baselines and provide compliance reporting.
  • Evaluate user requirements and recommend technical solutions.
  • Undertake computer system planning and design in conjunction with the ICT partners.
  • Monitor and analyse computer system performance and capacity, and provide recommendations for improving the computing infrastructure.
  • Learn about and work with the ICT partners to provide technical support for the resolution of complex faults, especially where the root cause of the issue is not clear when dealing with integrated solutions from multiple partners.

Who you are & what to prepare for:

  • This role would suit someone who is passionate about ICT and/or IT solutions. Someone who is motivated to pursue a career within this technical field.
  • We don't require individuals with experience as we will provide full training in all aspects of the role from how to use tools/equipment including softwear and IT management systems. We are looking for candidates with the right attitude, commitment, and desire to learn
  • You will get a mobile phone and laptop
  • Although supported throughout the programme by us at Telent you will need to take ownership of your tasks and personal development
  • Client and customer service is critical to the services we provide
  • You will need to have strong organisational skills and enjoy problem solving/troubleshooting
  • Communication is vital; you will need to be an effective communicator both in writing and verbally

The Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's Grade 4 or higher (or equivalent qualification). This must include Maths, English and a Science or IT based subject
  • Full UK Driving Licence (Desirable)
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Must be over the age of 18 by January 2025

Programme Specifics:

  • This apprenticeship is typically 24 months in duration
  • Starting salary of 17,500 which will increase throughout the duration of the programme
  • The qualification you gain will be a Level 3 Information Communications Technician
  • Our chosen training provider InteQual will support you in obtaining your qualification
  • You will work in an Agile model from both our office environments and remotely from home. You may also be required to visits client sites on occasions.
  • On completion of your apprenticeship, we hope to offer you a full-time position with Telent where you can continue to pursue your career
  • You will be mentored by colleagues, supervisors, managers and tutors throughout the programme
