We are currently recruiting for a team of experienced Police Staff Investigating Officers to work on full-time contracts across the West Midlands.The role will be based within Public Protection Units (PPU)The role will be based with a UK Police Force, and so applicants must undergo national security checks.The role is primarily office based and hours of work are Monday to Friday.However, the client is willing to offer some flexibility around hybrid working.The rate of pay will be £22.23 per hour.

Main ResponsibilitiesAssist in the interviewing of suspects in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) and procedures.Identify, preserve and present evidence as mandated in Law and Force Procedures, identifying and filling any evidential gaps.Gather, develop and use intelligence effectively. Complete appropriate intelligence interviews ensuring that all pertinent information gained is submitted correctly.Support officers with their development where your skills and accreditation allow.To assist in the preparation of high-quality evidential files for submission to CPS.To have knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) and ensure the rules are adhered to.Support with the interview of victims of crime. Identify vulnerable persons and take appropriate measures when conducting interviews.To assist student and other constables on attachment with investigation, case file preparation and disclosure issues thus enhancing the performance of the area.To give regular and effective service.

Essential Experience:A background in Policing, and understanding of PPUAccredited to PIP2 level or equivalent experienceAn understanding of Policing systems and relevant legislation.Experience in gathering statements from victims and witnesses.Experience in obtaining and handling evidence (e.g. CCTV).Experience if preparing files for court.Due to the high volume of applications we receive, if you do not hear from us within 7 working days, your application has been unsuccessful.If this role is not for you but you do know somebody who would be interested, please feel free to refer them to us!
