Job Title: National Functional Skills Tutor

Location: National Delivery (Own transport required)/West Midlands

Role Overview:

As a Pre-Employment Tutor (Functional Skills), you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training and assessment across a range of short course qualifications up to Level 2. This role focuses on classroom-based courses aimed at supporting unemployed individuals to achieve their goals. You will play a critical role in creating a safe and supportive learning environment, embedding essential topics, and ensuring compliance with all required administrative duties.

Whilst the Client will strive to have tutors delivering in their local area this cannot be guaranteed and tutors will need to be flexible for delivery nationwide. Travel expenses will be reimbursed including, 45p mile petrol, hotel stays (including breakfast and a meal allowance for the evening) and any parking costs. This role can involve national travel and is not limited to the West Midlands entirely.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Delivery:

  • Deliver training and assessment on various short course qualifications up to Level 2.
  • Facilitate classroom-based employability courses for unemployed candidates, subjects such as Functional Skills, Digital Skills but also potentially Environmental, Lean Manufacturing, Occupational Studies, Cleaning & Facilities.
  • Demonstrate practical applications of vocational programmes.
  • Embed essential topics such as safeguarding, Prevent, EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion), British values, Maths, English, and ICT within the curriculum.

Administrative Duties:

  • Complete attendance records and track student progress in their place of learning.
  • Participate in standardisation meetings and share best practices in training, learning, and assessment.
  • Prepare, maintain, and monitor the training environment to meet Health and Safety standards.
  • Comply with all required administration duties and be flexible in supporting business needs.

Essential/Desirable Criteria:

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a full teaching certificate the equivalent of a Level 3.
  • Working towards or holding the A1/TAQA/D32/33 Assessor qualification is desirable.

Experience:

  • Delivery of Functional Skills/Digital Skills/Employability is desirable.
  • Experience in delivering qualifications in sectors such as L2 Lean Organisation Management, Facilities, Cleaning, Employability, and Environmental is preferred.
  • Experience of training in an educational or workplace environment.
  • Relevant industrial experience in sectors like warehouse, manufacturing, or cleaning.

Other Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of compliance paperwork and review processes.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the challenges and demands of the role.
  • Drivers license and vehicle is not essential but strongly desirable.
