Water Resource Planner

Location: West Midlands (Location Flexible)
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000

Summary:

Join our dynamic water resources planning team and play a key role in shaping the future of water resource management in the UK. With opportunities available across various locations, including Birmingham, Redditch, High Wycombe, Reading, and Shrewsbury, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on crucial projects to ensure long-term national resilience and security of water supply.

As a senior member, you will manage the full lifecycle of projects, from inception to handover, ensuring they adhere to scope, budget, timescale, quality, and regulatory requirements. You will bring significant technical experience in developing Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs), Regional plans, Drought Plans, and water resource models, among others. You will also grow and leverage your networks to achieve positive project outcomes, run commercial projects, bids, and proposals, and provide strategic insight in bid selection and team direction.

Skills:
  1. Extensive experience in developing WRMPs, Drought Plans, and regional plans.
  2. Experience in water resource models, demand management, and option development.
  3. Proficiency in regulatory environmental assessments (HRA, SEA, WFD).
  4. Knowledge of the latest UK Water Resource Planning guidelines.
  5. Project management experience, including managing large teams and complex projects.
  6. Strong client relationship management skills.
  7. Strategic insight in commercial projects and bids.
  8. Ability to work in fast-paced multidisciplinary teams and with various stakeholders.
  9. Experience with WINEP investigations and Climate Change impact assessments.
  10. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Software/Tools:
  • Water resource modelling software
  • Project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6)
  • Data analysis tools
Certifications & Standards:
  • Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., geography, geological sciences, environmental science, civil or environmental engineering)
  • Preferably a postgraduate degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, or water resources management
  • Membership with relevant institutions such as CIWEM, Institute of Civil Engineers, or the Institute of Water
  • Professional chartership within an appropriate institution
