Resource Base Teacher
Location: Lozells, Birmingham B19
Day Rate: (Apply online only) after deductions
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Long Term Futures is seeking a Resource Base Teacher to support pupils with autism, ADHD, and high sensory needs at a mainstream primary school in Lozells, Birmingham. This role is ideal for an educator with Early Years experience, as learning is planned at this level. The school is looking for someone with a calm, friendly, and proactive approach who can create a nurturing and structured learning environment.

This position is expected to start after Easter 2025 but may begin sooner for the right candidate. There is also potential for this role to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a small group of SEN pupils with high sensory needs, ensuring they are engaged and regulated
  • Plan and deliver Early Years level activities tailored to meet pupils' individual learning needs
  • Implement structured routines, sensory strategies, and visual supports to enhance learning experiences
  • Encourage communication and social development through individualised strategies, including PECS or Makaton where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and SEN specialists to ensure a consistent approach
  • Maintain a calm, supportive, and structured environment to promote confidence and independence

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • QTS or relevant teaching qualification (SEN experience highly desirable)
  • Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, and sensory needs
  • Early Years experience, with the ability to tailor learning to developmental levels
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude, with a passion for supporting children with complex needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, working collaboratively with staff and families
