Our projects range from beautifully crafted hardwood joinery to architectural metalwork, with a particular focus on producing stunning bronze or stainless steel doors and frames tailored to exact client specifications.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced Sales & Estimating Manager to lead our sales and estimating functions, driving business growth and securing new projects. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will manage the full sales cycle, oversee the estimating team, and ensure the business maintains a steady flow of high-quality enquiries and orders. This is a pivotal role, combining strategic business development with hands-on management of tenders and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development:
" Drive sales activities, ensuring a structured approach to identifying and securing enquiries that meet the company's production capacity and strategic goals.
" Develop and maintain a robust system for managing sales leads and ensuring the smooth transition from enquiry to order.
" Conduct advertising and promotional activities in line with the agreed budget, ensuring maximum visibility and engagement in target markets.
" Compile and manage monthly order projections and performance reports to monitor progress and inform business decisions.
Estimating Function:
" Manage the Estimating Department, ensuring workloads, resources, and processes are effectively aligned to meet tender deadlines.
" Work closely with the Senior Estimator to review pricing strategies, identify competitive advantages, and finalise tenders to the highest standard.
" Oversee the submission of subcontract enquiries, collation of bills, and production of tenders.
" Implement a follow-up system for all tenders to maximise conversion rates and secure orders.
" Provide mentorship and training for junior estimators to develop their skills and support career progression.
Collaboration with Contracts Team:
" Liaise with Contracts Managers to coordinate pricing strategies and ensure a unified approach to client engagement.
" Act as the lead contact for specific projects, managing select contracts when required and ensuring seamless communication with internal teams and clients.
Team Management & HR:
" Manage and support the team within the Sales & Estimating functions, ensuring high standards of performance and adherence to company policies.
" Handle staff HR processes, including performance reviews, training plans, and ensuring adequate coverage during absences.

We're looking for a proactive and results-driven professional with a strong background in sales, estimating, and team management. You will be confident in leading a team, developing business strategies, and overseeing complex tenders.
Essential Skills & Experience:
" Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role or relevant on-the-job experience.
" Sound knowledge of joinery and metalwork manufacturing processes.
" Proven track record in managing sales pipelines and delivering successful tenders.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
" Relevant sales management training or qualifications.
" Experience working in bespoke manufacturing or a similar industry.
Personal Attributes:
" Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
" Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities, with a customer-focused approach.
" Analytical mindset with attention to detail and the ability to identify competitive advantages within tenders.
