Senior BIM / CAD Coordinator (MEP Building Services)
My client are independent building services consulting engineers who are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and hard-working senior BIM/CAD Coordinator to join their growing team. With a client list which many larger practices would be envious of, they sell on the quality of their service. Often pushing the boundaries of the technologies available in the marketplace, they consider themselves innovators.
Purpose
My client have been providing high quality consultancy in building engineering services within the UK since the business was created in 2004. They are highly successful, are investing heavily in new technologies which keep them at the forefront of the building services profession - spread over the three core disciplines: M&E, vertical transportation, and facilities management. Whilst there will always be a core 2D design (CAD) capability for small to medium sized projects, there is an increasing need to use building information modelling (BIM) to provide value for money in the larger commissions. This is across all three disciplines.
They are seeking to recruit a Senior BIM/CAD Coordinator who will be based at of head office in Birmingham. This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to grow; as they see this being a pivotal role in the growth of their diverse workstream. The role has the potential of developing into a BIM Manager.
Senior BIM / CAD Coordinator - Duties
- Working collaboratively with a variety of engineers on multiple projects improving the workflow using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design packages.
- Receive the engineer's marked-up designs/alterations and produce CAD drawings or Revit models.
- Template setup - including project/system settings.
- Container files setup and file management.
- Create families.

- Clash detection.
- File health and organisation.
- Graphical consistency.
- Take responsibility for production and development of 2D drawings and 3D models in line with the company's BIM protocols.
- Collaborate and coordinate with consultants and contractors to receive and manage data.
- Host BIM coordination meetings.
- Effective control of information received and registering drawing issues.
- Effective control of information received and registering the issue of deliverables.
- Automate elements to improve productivity.
Location
This role would be based in the Midlands, although the role would involve working with a diverse range of organisations including many blue-chip companies across the UK. It is not unheard of for the client's team to set up in estates offices and construction offices.
Time Commitment The role will require 37.5 hours per week usually between the hours of 9.00am -5.30pm (with an hour for lunch) but will require candidates to be flexible in their hours of work when required.
