About the Role:
Anderselite is seeking a Yard Supervisor on behalf of our client to oversee yard operations and the team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the storage, preparation, and movement of goods, ensuring safe and efficient loading/unloading processes, maintaining excellent housekeeping standards, and supporting audits and stock checks. This role involves providing operational support across the business and ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

- Equipment Hire:
- Record asset information and confirm hires in the system
- Load delivery vehicles accurately, managing paperwork for external haulers and internal drivers

- Equipment Returns:
- Receive, record, and verify returned equipment against documentation
- Transfer data to the returns register, noting any issues for the administration team
- Inspect returned equipment for damage and notify the Workshop Team Leader

- Service & Maintenance:
- Prepare non-mechanical plant for hire, including cleaning, painting, and maintenance checks
- Document completed jobs, ensuring accurate service records

- Other Duties:
- Act as key holder for the depot barrier system, managing vehicle access and ensuring a banksman is available
- Assist with slinger/signaller duties, receive goods paperwork, and scan to the Quality Team

- Commercial:
- Maintain accurate stock levels, reporting issues that may delay customer orders
- Support annual stock checks and ensure spending aligns with budget requirements

- Quality:
- Ensure work adheres to process standards, actively contributing to continuous improvement
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to maintain communication and meet deadlines

- Team Leadership:
- Supervise yard activities, offering feedback, conducting briefings, and motivating team members

- HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality):
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, managing RAMS, SSOW, and risk assessments
- Conduct HSEQ meetings, advise on HSEQ matters, and support incident investigations
- Contribute to sustainability and environmental initiatives in line with company goals

- Quality of yard and storage areas
- Accuracy and efficiency of equipment booking processes

Person Specification:
Essential:
- Experience in a yard role within the plant hire industry or similar
- Experience loading/unloading light and HGV vehicles
- Full driving licence
- Computer literacy
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures

Desirable:
- Knowledge of plant, tools, and tunnelling equipment
- Forklift licence
- First Aid and Fire Warden experience
