The role

The purpose of the role is to assist the Repairs and Maintenance Manager in any general maintenance and building work for the cluster of Self-storage locations.

Who we’re looking for
As a Multi Trader, you will provide reactive day to day repairs, aiming to achieve a first time fix where possible, across the company portfolio of properties. Your experience in a similar role, and with a background in general building work, including plastering, plumbing, installing kitchens/sinks and washing conveniences, painting and maintenance will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of the stores.
In addition to possessing the appropriate level of expertise and experience, the successful candidate will also need to provide evidence of being a highly motivated individual with the right values and a strong work ethic.
General criteria for successful application might also include, but not be limited to:
- An understanding of and ability to work to Health & Safety standards
- Be prepared to travel to locations (mainly clustered around Birmingham, Yorkshire, London,
- An all-round ability to complete minor tasks through to major commercial projects
- An ability to work individually and as part of a wider team, as required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to take direction
- Positive can-do attitude with the ability to problem solve independently
- Full, UK drivers licence
What you’ll do
- General maintenance duties including, but not limited to, painting, woodwork and carpentry, fixing broken items, replacing where required, partitioning, installing toilets/sinks, kitchen cabinets, installation of signs, door numbers, erection of boxing in/housing, plastering and filling, making good etc.
- Building steel partitions for the storage units, including general removal of walls or erection of additional walls
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance at all of the Space Station stores, including emergency weekend repairs as required or reported
- Maintain storage units, internal and external, including replacing damaged panels, repairs to floors etc.
- The role is predominantly a Monday to Friday role (37.5 hours per week), but includes on-call cover on some weekends (one weekend in four) to cover emergency repairs as required or reported.
- Operate the forklift, or hired in equipment, such as scissor lifts once certified
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for both staff and customers
- Assist R&M Manager with supervision of external trades on site in their absence
