Job Title: Workshop Supervisor (HGV/PSV Nightshift)

Role Overview:

Vibe Recruitment is seeking an experienced HGV/PSV Nightshift Supervisor to join their client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the nightshift operations, ensuring the maintenance and servicing of commercial vehicles to MOT standards. You will be tasked with organising the shift, managing the team, and ensuring that all work is completed to the highest quality and safety standards.



Shift Pattern:

  • Location: West Bromwich
  • Hours: Monday to Thursday
  • Shift Times: 18:00 - 06:00 (inclusive of a 1-hour paid break)
  • Total Hours: 48 hours per week


Key Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that Health, Safety & Welfare standards are consistently met across the team.
  • Work Allocation: Supervise, allocate, and prioritise work to ensure maximum efficiency within the workshop.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high-quality standards by conducting regular quality checks on vehicles and services.
  • Inspection & Documentation: Sign off on inspection and service documentation, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Guidance & Leadership: Provide guidance and advice to the workforce, making decisions when necessary to ensure smooth operations.
  • Paperwork Accuracy: Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including job cards, service sheets, and maintenance records.
  • Customer Communication: Maintain communication with both internal and external customers to ensure smooth operations and meet customer expectations.
  • Time Management: Monitor timekeeping, control idle time, and ensure productivity targets are met.
  • Maintenance & Diagnostics: Carry out vehicle inspection, servicing, maintenance, and fault diagnostics as required.
  • Parts Coordination: Assist the parts team in the allocation and sourcing of parts necessary for repairs and maintenance.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Organisational Skills: Strong ability to organise and manage workload effectively, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Supervisory Experience: Experience in supervising a team within a workshop environment.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a busy department and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Independent Working: Ability to work unsupervised, adhering to strict deadlines and quality standards.
  • Calm Under Pressure: Ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, capable of liaising with team members at all levels and external customers.


Ideal Qualifications & Experience:

  • Technical Qualifications: City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician, or proven experience in repairing and maintaining vehicles.
  • Current Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is required (HGV licence is advantageous).
  • IRTEC Inspection Licence: Ideal, but not essential.
  • Previous Supervisor Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory role within a workshop environment is highly desirable.
