Childcare & Nursery Manager | Birmingham | 38 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm or 10:00 am - 4:00 pm; flexibility negotiable) | Negotiable up to £29k with increments for service

Our client is a local charity which provides a safe haven for victims of domestic abuse.

They are seeking a dedicated Childcare & Nursery Manager to lead a team providing a confidential and supportive service, working closely with women and their children who are living in their refuge as a result of experiencing domestic abuse.

The successful candidate will work effectively within the nursery and afterschool club supporting women and children, treating them equally and fairly, thereby enabling children to fulfil their potential.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven experience in childcare management or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies, SEN Codes of Practice, and childcare legislation
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships with families and professionals
  • Passionate about creating a safe and stimulating environment for children

What will your role look like?

  • Welcoming and ensuring the safety of children and mothers admitted to the centre
  • Providing a caring, stimulating, and nurturing environment for children's growth and development
  • Planning and facilitating structured activities, cultural celebrations, and offsite trips
  • Managing records, observations, assessments, and future planning for children's development
  • Promoting equal opportunities and understanding the diverse needs of children and families
  • Liaising with mothers, staff, and external professionals to ensure exceptional care continuity
  • Supporting preparation for Ofsted inspections and maintaining compliance with childcare legislation
  • Upholding safeguarding policies, managing challenging behaviours, and maintaining confidentiality
