Are you a patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a child's educational and emotional development?

About the Role

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 child with ADHD and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Based in a nurturing primary school in Selly Oak (B29), this long-term role offers the potential to become permanent. You'll help the child develop their confidence, manage their emotions, and fully engage with their learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with ADHD and SEMH needs.
  • Work with the class teacher and SENCO to implement EHCP targets and support plans.
  • Use behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation.
  • Implement approaches like Zones of Regulation, emotion coaching, and sensory strategies.
  • Encourage engagement through structured and creative activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with ADHD and SEMH needs.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and individual support plans.
  • Familiarity with Zones of Regulation, emotion coaching, and de-escalation techniques (desirable).
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a patient approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and support emotional development.
