About the Role

Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 boy with ADHD, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviour. Based in a supportive primary school, this long-term role offers the potential to become permanent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support, helping a Year 5 pupil with ADHD, SEMH needs, and behavioural challenges thrive in their learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow and adapt individualised education and support plans.
  • Apply positive behaviour strategies to support emotional well-being and foster engagement.
  • Utilise structured techniques like Zones of Regulation, sensory tools, and emotion coaching to address the child's needs.
  • Promote social skills development through guided interaction and purposeful activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience working with children who have ADHD, SEMH needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and how to implement targeted support strategies.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based interventions like Zones of Regulation and de-escalation methods (desirable).
  • Excellent behaviour management capabilities with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong ability to nurture trust and support a child's emotional and social development.
