Position: Full-Time BSL Teaching Assistant (5 Days a Week)
Pay: 94.31- 109.05 per day
The Aspire People team is seeking a dedicated and motivated British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join our team for a lovely SEN school in B31.
As a full-time BSL TA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with hearing impairments, helping them access the curriculum, and facilitating effective communication in the classroom.
An ability and experience in working with children with hearing impairments in KS1 or 2 is desirable, and BSL qualifications or experience are essential, please note candidates with Makaton experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
* Support students with hearing impairments in their learning and communication using BSL
* Assist with the delivery of lessons and activities
* Work closely with teachers to adapt resources and teaching strategies
* Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed
* Help foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
* Assist with other tasks as directed by the teacher
* Working with children between Key Stage 1 and 2
Requirements:
* Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) is essential
* Experience working with students, ideally in an educational setting
* A patient, supportive, and empathetic approach to working with students
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
