Higher-Level Teaching Assistant | Handsworth, B21 | Full Time | 100-125 | November Start

LTF Recruitment is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified HLTA to join a dedicated school in the Handsworth area. This role is especially suited to those with a strong background in SEN support, as you will work closely with SEN pupils to ensure they are engaged and supported in their learning. As a HLTA, you will assist teachers by taking responsibility for learning activities under supervision, monitor pupil progress, and help plan and deliver lessons. You will also cover classes during PPA time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and group support for SEN pupils across KS1 and KS2
  • Encouraging engagement and interaction for children with SEN needs
  • Assisting with reading, writing, and learning activities
  • Supporting class teachers with lesson delivery and leading class sessions during PPA time
  • Planning and delivering activities for small groups and whole classes

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least one year of experience in a Primary school
  • HLTA qualification (preferred but not essential, those with Level 3 STL qualifications and substantive experience are encouraged to apply)
  • A strong understanding of working with SEN pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
