KS1 Teaching Assistant

Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our partner primary school in Selly Oak. This rewarding full-time role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by delivering targeted support to help pupils achieve their age-related expectations in core areas such as phonics, early literacy, and numeracy. For the right candidate, there is potential for this long-term placement to transition into a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide focused support in phonics and early literacy development, helping pupils build foundational reading and writing skills.
- Assist in numeracy interventions, supporting children with basic mathematical concepts such as counting, addition, and subtraction.
- Deliver targeted interventions to support pupils' academic progress and overall wellbeing, both one-to-one and in small groups.
- Provide tailored support to children with SEN, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
- Facilitate engaging, interactive activities that encourage social interaction, teamwork, and inclusivity among pupils.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or an equivalent degree.
- Have at least one year of experience supporting primary school pupils, ideally in Key Stage 1.
- Show a strong understanding of the KS1 UK curriculum.
- Skilled in delivering both group and one-to-one phonics interventions effectively.
