About the role

Connex Education are seeking an experienced special educational needs Teaching Assistant.

This is a long term role, with flexible working hours, offering full or part time hours to suit. Applications are welcome from Qualified Teaching assistants with a relevant educational certificate, or referenceable experience working within a similar role.

Our client is seeking to appoint a committed & enthusiastic staff member to work on a one to one basis with a pupil with an educational health care plan (EHCP). We are looking for someone who is constantly seeking ways in which they can improve on their current practice to recognise triggers that the student may display and work proactively to deescalate the situation and encourage positive behavior. A proactive attitude when working towards the outcomes outlined within the EHCP document. The successful applicant will have good self-organisational skills.

The successful applicant will be working across KS1 and KS2.  

Assignment Details

This role will start as soon as possible and will last until the end of the academic year.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience working in a challenging school environment
  • Applicants from a care background with transferable skills are welcome
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or prepared to apply for a new one.
  • An outstanding practitioner with high expectations.
