LTF Recruitment is seeking a proactive teaching assistant to support a Year 1 class at a welcoming primary school in Northfield. This long-term role has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
- Support pupils in developing foundational skills in phonics, reading, writing, and maths.
- Encourage independence and readiness for learning among Year 1 pupils.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents as required.
- Promote positive behaviour and manage challenging situations in line with school policies.
- Provide emotional and social support to build confidence and self-esteem in pupils.
- Supervise pupils during break times, excursions, and school activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to support SEN or EAL pupils.
Candidate Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a primary school.
- Experience supporting children with SEN and managing challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
- Understanding of behaviour management strategies.
