Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Lead

Contract: 6 months

Rate: £350-£400 per day (Inside IR35, Umbrella)

Our client is seeking the experience of an interim Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Lead to support the EDI Manager.This is a 6-month contract role offering an exciting opportunity to shape and drive forward the council's EDI agenda.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the authority's EDI strategy and policies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders, employees, and external partners to promote a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion across the organisation
  • Analyse workforce data, conduct EDI audits, and provide regular reports on progress towards diversity goals and compliance with legal requirements
  • Design and deliver EDI training programs, ensuring that staff are aware of and understand key diversity principles and the council’s commitments
  • Review and update existing policies to remove any barriers to inclusion, ensuring that all practices comply with the Equality Act 2010 and other relevant legislation
  • Drive initiatives that support a positive shift in workplace culture towards greater inclusivity and respect for diversity

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Proven track record of leading EDI initiatives within a large public sector or local government setting
  • Strong knowledge of EDI legislation, including the Equality Act 2010
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience in analysing diversity data and using it to drive meaningful change
  • Ability to manage and deliver complex projects to tight deadlines
