Are you an HR Manager looking to work for a forward-thinking, growing and financially secure business within the manufacturing and operations sector? If so, Umbilical Limited is working on a retained assignment seeking an experienced and strategic HR Manager to join a company that has grown from humble beginnings into a UK powerhouse.


Having recruited for this business on many occasions, I can honestly say they are a true investor in their employees, as well as having the financial capabilities to improve the business and operations to support growth.


This role will provide the ideal HR Manager with a varied and challenging opportunity with a healthy mix of high-level strategic input, as well as maintaining a direct approach with your HR team.


The HR Managers role will be as follows:

  • To manage all HR-related activities including payroll across a multi-site operation reporting directly to the Director
  • Develop and implement an HR strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Provide effective and clear leadership as well as training, coaching, mentoring and upskilling your HR team
  • Introduce, implement and manage effective HR strategies and policies to meet business objectives
  • Plan and control functional budgets. Annual/quarterly/forecast personnel planning
  • Lead and advise on employment topics including remuneration, development and effective deployment of personnel to ensure that decisions are made following company guidelines
  • Confident in delivering new people strategies, ensuring adherence to UK employment laws, managing complex employee relations issues and advising on efficient HR systems
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and professional development programs
  • Lead cultural transformation initiatives, drive change, and promote innovation
  • HR metrics reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis

The ideal HR Manager will have a combination of the following:

  • An experienced HR Manager or Head of HR
  • The ideal person would have worked in the manufacturing, engineering or FMCG sector with a blue-collar labour force
  • A qualification such as CIPD level 5 or 7 or a Bachelor's or Masters in human resources management
  • Possess a high work ethic and excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of labour regulations, HR practices and policies
  • Strong leadership expertise, strength of character, peoples person and success-driven
