We are seeking a new addition to a Business Analysis team. This role involves conducting continuous reviews of business processes and delivering major organisational process improvement initiatives.

Description

The IT Business Analyst will collaborate with managers to lead the development of new business systems and review business processes, optimising the use of key databases. This role involves advising business users on database implications of various projects and ensuring that business improvement initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This position requires effective coordination with colleagues and external stakeholders, and proactive management of expectations.

  • Project Scope and Initiation:

    • Work closely with business owners to understand user requirements and system developments.
    • Produce project initiation documents (PIDs), engaging the business process owner in initial planning and risk assessment.
  • Business Requirements Analysis:

    • Identify and interpret current and future needs of business users.
    • Document business requirements and acceptance criteria, transforming business needs into IT change requests and projects.
  • System and Process Impact:

    • Ensure changes in operational areas consider impacts on existing systems, future developments, and other projects within the organisation.
  • Stakeholder Relationships:

    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with business process owners.
    • Provide advice and guidance on the viability of proposed projects, managing relationships with both internal and external stakeholders proactively.
  • Documentation and Communication:

    • Ensure business needs and database issues are well documented and understood.
    • Define deliverables, resource requirements, and work plans for projects, managing their development and delivery.
  • Project Management:

    • Lead design of solutions, supporting the Project Sponsor and wider project team.
    • Conduct requirements gathering, solution design, and problem-solving.
    • Oversee implementation dates, produce migration plans, review test results, and gain sign-off.
    • Design, script, and run database testing and validation.
  • Implementation Support:

    • Provide user support during implementation phases, including post-project reviews to assess effectiveness and identify lessons learned.
  • Risk and Performance Management:

    • Actively identify, measure, and manage project risks and performance.
    • Manage changes and improvements to the use of the organisation's databases.
  • Resource Management:

    • Secure and efficiently manage resources, including people, budget, time, IT, information, and other resources.
    • Manage supplier relationships to obtain best value.
  • Quality Assurance and Documentation:

    • Implement quality assurance procedures and conduct post-project evaluations.
    • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored according to organisational requirements.
    • Produce system documentation such as User Guides, Quick Cards, SOPs, and Training Manuals.

Profile

  • Experience:

    • Proven knowledge of project management disciplines.
    • Experience leading and delivering IT change management projects.
    • Proven people management skills, including performance management and experience in coaching or training others.
  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills, adaptable to various mediums and audiences.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities, including researching, analysing, and implementing solutions.
    • Ability to build and manage successful relationships with stakeholders over sustained periods.
    • Financial and commercial acumen in managing resources and project budgets.
    • Initiative and responsibility in decision-making and project management.
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently and deliver projects effectively.
  • Attributes:

    • Self-driven and results-oriented with a focus on high quality.
    • Clear understanding of operational management and working with IT systems.
