Your new companyA West Midlands-based University is delivering key strategic improvements to its Student Records System and associated processes as part of their exciting 3-year Digital Transformation Strategy. Your new roleThe IT portfolio requires a highly experienced Senior Project Manager with Student Records Systems Experience to join the PMO and lead a 3-year technical ad process improvement project.Strong leadership skills are required, where you will lead by example, in a collaborative, clear and disciplined way.What you'll need to succeed

  • Prince 2 qualification or equivalent to Practitioner level
  • To gather and define the key strategic outcomes of the Student Records System Improvement Project
  • Write, report and present project documentation, such as a Business Case, in a clear and well-structured manner.
  • Strong proven ability to manage emerging expectations and requirements - experience in defining and managing potential scope creep from suppliers as well as internal customers
  • Evidence of managing projects of £3 million + and ensuring return on investment as well as delivering budget, time and quality
  • Proven experience in project managing significant change affecting people, process and technology
  • Lead the resource requirements for the project and the project team, such as, Change Manager and Business Analyst, amongst others.
  • Mobilise and manage an effective procurement and contract negotiation process with suppliers
  • Establish strong working relationships with both internal Operational and Technical teams as well as Suppliers
  • Create structured and effective governance oversight and controls to ensure effective delivery and responsive change control
  • Proactive and expert project risk management is required as well as superb dependency management.
  • A proven track record of implementing strong project cost controls, reporting and monitoring is required.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills required - project plans, financial management and forecasting, resource management, check point, high light reports and quality control
  • Proven experience of delivering on time, quality and cost, as well as turning around aspects of projects that may have drifted off track
  • Experience of presenting and delivering messages to executives in an effective and professional manner
  • Ability to manage issues effectively, creative troubleshooting and solutions sourcing skills
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent report writing and project documentation skills such as business cases
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Expert at conflict resolution and creating strong working relationships
  • Disciplined approach to project governance, financial management, risk and controls
