PIR (Part Inspection Report) Analyst

We have an exciting immediate contract opportunity for a team of engineering analysts to provide support coordination for one of our automotive OEM clients based in the West Midlands.

This project will require individuals with all round understanding of engineering to including design to manufacturing for component inspection checks to provide a support function between stores, production build and engineering. Initially for up to 6 months with a possibility of the project being extended or suitable candidates being utilised on projects elsewhere.

The Part Inspection Plan Analyst Opportunity

The main purpose of this role will be to support and manage a vehicle build Part Inspection Report (PIR) for all parts required on each build for each vehicle line - setting up of the PIR monitoring deck to ensure PIR can be tracked through the relevant system.

The Part Inspection Report Analysts will be responsible for ensuring manufacturing conformance is completed in line with all design requirements and plans after implementing the details PIR model for each area. Supporting on managing problems, addressing part quality issues with supply base, interacting with engineering for design concerns in manufacturing to establish the data format for PIRs (Part Inspection Report).

They will also issue PIR templates to the supply base for completion in line with programme timing and deliverables. Liaise with the commodity engineers and squads in order to ensure the timely receiving and approval of PIR template.

Monitoring and reporting on PIR status/ generating metrics for managed build in all relevant forums i.e showcase and Build Readiness Reviews to ensure full visibility of the status to the programme and to support the on-time delivery of schedule requirements.

Lead education sessions with the relevant engineering groups/squads to ensure all engineering requirements are fully understood. Investigate and lead process improvement opportunities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities of PIR (Part Inspection Report) Analyst

  • Manage engineering design to manufacturing parts across multiple locations.
  • Establish methods, ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Handle urgent requests for support material and part deliveries.
  • Monitoring and reporting on PIR status/ generating metrics for managed build.
  • Negotiate delivery dates with suppliers to support multiple prototype builds.
  • Coordinate production slots with internal tool rooms and 3D printing operations.
  • Meet key sections to review and improve issues and performance.
  • Adopt Agile methodologies to overcome obstacles.
  • Chair supplier meetings to review part supply status and resolve issues.
  • Achieve departmental objectives and support relevant prototype build activities.

The Ideal Candidate for PIR (Part Inspection Report) Analyst

  • Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
  • Time management and organisational skills used to working to KPIs
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Ability to analyse engineering and manufacturing data and producing reports
  • Experience managing supplier portfolios and production schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret and produce data.
  • Ability to work to and achieve KPIs and respond to priority changes
  • Experience in manufacturing and specifically automotive production environments
  • Presentation skills (written & verbal)
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience of JIRA and Confluence toolsets
  • Familiarity with GPIRS / CMMS, SAP, Microsoft SharePoint, Tableau, and Macros.
  • Full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points.
