 SENIOR DEVELOPMENT UNDERWRITER - BIRMINGHAM

 An opportunity to work for one of the largest Insurance Companies in the world who are firmly in growth mode and are looking for an experienced Senior Development Underwriter.

You will be part of the Branch Senior Team reporting directly into the Branch Manager and working with some of the group largest and most important broker relationships.

THE ROLE

  • To work with a panel of strategic partner brokers to develop new business opportunity and leverage those relationships to support renewal retention
  • Manage your own diary to ensure visibility across the panel and maintain the profile of the company in the local market
  • Develop a strong pipeline of in appetite opportunities to develop and convert in line with new business targets
  • Manage a small book of larger and more complex key clients to manage through the renewal process and ensure appropriate cross sell opportunities are implemented
  • Liaise with the Regional Underwriting Officer where required to obtain sign off on large out of authority cases by way of developing a compelling business case
  • Trade with key contacts in the market and ensure that the company products and appetite are known and shared across your broker panel
  • Support and develop less experienced colleagues to increase the skill level and experience of the branch team as required

THE CANDIDATE

  • You will be an experienced Senior Underwriter, Lead or Trading Underwriter with a strong new business track record
  • You will have an extensive network of key broker contacts to support your trading activities in both new business and renewals
  • We are looking for a solutions focussed individual who is a self starter and able to work in an efficient and effective manner
  • Someone who is comfortable with face to face trading with brokers
  • Experience of meeting clients directly either on accompanied Risk Management visits or as part of a new business pitch in conjunction with distribution
  • Excellent technical insurance knowledge of both Property & Casualty elements
