Overview

We are seeking a development-orientated Commercial Property Underwriter to join a long established team of Real Estate Underwriters, based in Birmingham.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate and also client management / servicing, because you will be working with some major pension providers in order to discuss proposition and service delivery, and then underwriting the business too - well at least overseeing the underwriting with the rest of the team.

You must have the experience of underwriting wide portfolios of Commercial property owners / real estate, and ideally be comfortable building rapport with Clients. If you do, you would present the ideal individual.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clients to gather necessary underwriting information
  • Under an extensive DUA, review and evaluate property information, such as location, construction, and occupancy, and price the cover accordingly
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners
  • Work with the more Junior Underwriters of the team to ensure clients receive excellent customer service while working to secure new business opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company underwriting guidelines
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial property underwriting or related field
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of Commercial Underwriting trends, and the real estate market in general hat is relevant to the role.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
Day-to-day
  • Reviewing and analyzing commercial property insurance applications
  • Communicating with clients, agents, and industry partners to gather underwriting information
  • Assessing property risks and determining appropriate coverage and pricing
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure effective underwriting processes
  • Cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships through excellent customer service
