My client, a leading, Birmingham-based charity, are looking for an IT Field Engineer. The IT Field Engineer will provide first, second, and third-line support, maintain and improve infrastructure, and play a key role in delivering the organization's end-user strategy. This includes deploying hardware and offering first-class support while troubleshooting complex issues.


Main Responsibilities

On-Site Support: Provide face-to-face services across various locations, including shops, hospices, and homes. Manage all field service jobs from start to resolution through the field management system, ensuring SLA compliance. No remote work is included.

Technical Tasks:

  • Respond to client/system requests, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform hardware repair, installation, and upgrades.
  • Manage security, network administration, and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Conduct site surveys for Wi-Fi/4G coverage and gather data for hardware deployments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve circuit and hardware issues.
  • Coordinate cabling and hardware installation, ensuring connectivity.
  • Project Work: Support ongoing infrastructure improvement initiatives alongside daily responsibilities.

Additional Notes

The role may require after-hours work and flexibility during emergencies or major incidents. Adequate training will be provided for any additional duties outside the usual scope of the role.
