Maintenance Planner

Main purpose of the job

To directly liaise with the Maintenance Manager to develop, implement, maintain and run the Shire Maintenance Management system and link to Stores Management System across the whole of the Elmdon facility. Introducing maintenance best practices and generating KPIs that can be used to identify future improvements across the whole site.


Main missions and results

Ensure successful implementation, communication and maintenance of Shire Maintenance Management System into the Elmdon site.

Adhere to health, safety & environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self and others.

Effect departmental training as and when required to roll out system plant wide.

Drive cost initiatives through close analysis of spares/consumables and their cost, usage etc.

Prepare Management Reports via Shire as required setting up and detailing Maintenance KPI reporting and adherence to TPM work schedules.

Day to day accountability for all stores based spares, and equipment.

Booking in/out of equipment as required through Shire.

Manage and maintain max/min levels of spares.

Maintain housekeeping through IPS disciplines within Maintenance department.

Support continuous improvement activities throughout the Plant (i.e. wastewalk actions).

Support TPM implementation and continuous improvement, problem solving and fault finding where possible.

Update budget and produce reports as requested.

Liaise with Suppliers, machinery OEMs to get quotes and arrange parts/services as required.

Use AS400/System 21 to update purchase orders and book in goods received.

Update and Maintain Maintenance SOIs as required.

Contractor control, including permits to work, RAMS etc.

Manage overall and PPE providers, liaising with HSE and Managers.

Write and update risk assessments.

Assist Maintenance Managers with projects and attend meetings as required.

Administratively support the ordering process and quotation process for all maintenance related parts and tools.

Ensure all spares are documented in our maintenance system with minimum and maximum stock levels, part numbers ad locations, so that maintenance engineers can locate parts quickly and efficiently.

Auditing the system to ensure accuracy and that bookings are being done correctly.

Update stock KPIs, relevant to area.

Work with stakeholders to disposition redundant and damaged stock.

Undertake other tasks as appropriate to support the maintenance function.

Ensure accurate stock receipts, and consumption highlighting related discrepancies to relevant stakeholders.

Work with maintenance, to improve availability and identification of stock.


Preferred skills and experience

Preferably have a background in an engineering discipline or qualification, some background in maintenance would be preferable.

PC literate (spreadsheets, databases, word processing and e-mail) to at least intermediate level.

Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure and alone without supervision.

Highly numerate with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

Excellent organisational and communicational skills as well as a strong sense of urgency and an ability to juggle priorities and work under pressure.
