Role Overview:We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate or Assistant Planner to join the Birmingham team. This role is perfect for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are eager to develop their skills and gain comprehensive experience in the town planning sector. You will work alongside experienced planners on a variety of projects, contributing to the planning process from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation, submission, and negotiation of planning applications.
  • Conducting research and analysis to support planning projects and policy development.
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to progress planning proposals.
  • Preparing planning reports, statements, and supporting documents.
  • Participating in site visits, consultations, and public inquiries as needed.
  • Supporting senior planners in managing complex projects and ensuring they meet statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • 1 year experience with a local authority or private consultancy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret and apply planning policies and regulations.
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant planning software.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
