Graduate Town Planner - Birmingham

A leading planning, architecture, and master planning consultancy is looking for a Graduate Town Planner to join its Birmingham office. This is a great opportunity for a graduate with some industry experience or an Assistant Planner looking to develop their career.

The Role

You will play a supporting role to directors, assisting with a variety of planning tasks, including:

  • Research and data collection - gathering planning history, policy analysis, and site appraisals
  • Drafting reports and documents - supporting planning applications and appeals
  • Monitoring planning applications and policies - tracking updates relevant to client projects
  • Client and stakeholder engagement - liaising with local authorities and preparing representations

The role requires a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently, especially as Mondays and Fridays are work-from-home days. You should be confident managing tasks remotely and responding efficiently to director requests.

Requirements
  • A degree in Town Planning or a related subject
  • Some practical experience (internship, placement, or assistant planner role preferred)
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Confidence in working independently and meeting deadlines
  • Good knowledge of the UK planning system
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
