Senior Town Planner

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be supporting an established Planning Consultancy in the West-Midlands in their hire of an experienced Town Planner to their dynamic team!

The current team work tirelessly to secure planning permission for a wide range of projects across residential, commercial, and retail, ranging from area regeneration to bespoke Listed Building conversions and strategic land promotions.

They are now looking to recruit a Senior Level Planner to their close-knit team, working on a range of exciting projects. Some of your duties will include:

  • Undertaking planning appraisals.
  • Attending planning, client, and committee meetings.
  • Preparing, lodging, and negotiating planning, listed building, conservation area and advertisement applications.
  • Preparing, submitting, and progressing written representation, hearing and public inquiry appeals.
  • Undertaking direct access instructions to Counsel.
  • Preparing Local Development Plan representations including appearance at EIP.

We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualification:

  • Degree in Town and Country Planning, or an equivalent environmental based degree.
  • Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or working towards membership.
  • Be a good verbal communicator with excellent people skills.
  • Excel at report writing and presentation.
  • Have practical experience of both development management and development plan processes (ideal).
  • Have a good understanding of the housing and economic markets and how robust planning advice plays a central role in driving land value enhancement (ideal).

On offer to the successful candidate will be a competitive basic salary as well as a generous accompanying benefits package. The team work primarily from the office base in Birmingham, however flexible hybrid working options are also available!
