The ideal candidate will have a passion for prison law and be able to manage a diverse caseload, provide support to junior team members, and contribute to the overall growth of the department. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional looking to progress within a supportive and expanding practice.Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a full caseload of prison law matters, including parole hearings, appeals, and sentencing issues.
  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to prisoners, ensuring the highest standard of client care.
  • Work closely with other team members to develop strategies for complex cases and ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations.
  • Supervise junior staff and support their professional development.
  • Contribute to the expansion of the prison law department, including business development, marketing, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Maintain excellent communication with clients, families, and external agencies.
  • Attend prison visits, tribunals, and hearings as required.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 1 year PQE in Prison Law, with significant experience handling complex and high-profile cases.
  • Proven ability to manage a busy caseload independently and effectively.
  • Experience in supervising or mentoring junior staff is desirable.
  • A proactive approach to business development, with an interest in expanding the department.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on client care and empathy.
  • Applicants must hold a valid driving licence and have use of a vehicle.
  • An understanding of the challenges and sensitivities involved in working with incarcerated clients is essential.
