Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel (German-speaking) - Hybrid Working, travel required

Location: West Midlands, UK - hybrid, 2 days per week on-site Birmingham

Role Overview:

An exiting opportunity has arisen for a German-speaking Senior Legal Counsel to join a growing business headquartered in the West Midlands. As the company continues to expand its European footprint, you will play a key role in supporting its legal team, reporting to the General Counsel, and providing strategic legal guidance on a wide range of commercial matters.

In this dynamic and fast-paced role, you will work closely with senior leadership and teams across multiple jurisdictions. Your responsibilities will include advising on contract negotiations, risk management, and legal compliance, and supporting the business's operations in Germany and beyond. You will also have the opportunity to travel ad-hoc to Germany to offer in-person legal support and ensure confidentiality and legal compliance across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on various commercial issues, including contract negotiations, vendor relationships, and corporate governance.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts to ensure they align with the business's objectives and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate legal risks, resolve disputes, and ensure the business complies with corporate policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support the business in its European operations, offering legal counsel on compliance matters, intellectual property, data protection, and more.
  • Provide ad-hoc legal support in Germany, travelling as necessary to assist with on-the-ground legal matters and maintain confidentiality across all business activities.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer in either the UK or Germany, with significant experience in commercial law, particularly in contract negotiation and risk management.
  • Fluent in both German and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver practical legal solutions in a fast-moving environment.

The business operates a hybrid working policy of 2 days per week required on-site, Salary is dependent on experience, but benefits include a bonus and car allowance.
