- Advise on the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and initiate proceedings where appropriate.
- Bring or guide judicial review claims, civil claims, or discrimination claims arising from Court of Protection cases.
- Handle a caseload of complex Court of Protection cases, maintaining compliance with legal standards.
- Supervise junior team members, including trainee solicitors, ensuring high standards in casework.
- Conduct training for junior staff to promote excellence in Court of Protection practice.
- Ensure compliance with file management, billing, and administrative procedures.
- Prepare and manage Legal Aid Agency funding applications for eligible clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with referral agencies and contribute to business development efforts.
- Support the department’s billing targets.
- Experience: PQE with solid experience in Court of Protection work.
- Proven experience in managing and developing junior staff.
- Strong case-management skills with a history of meeting or exceeding billing targets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to advise clients on complex issues.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in drafting, litigating, and advocacy.
- Familiarity with Legal Aid Funding Rules and CCMS is beneficial.
