Long Term Futures is looking for a Specialist Learning Mentor to support Key Stage 2 pupils in a friendly mainstream primary school located in Sparkbrook. The successful candidate will support the teaching and learning of children alongside the class teacher and will be responsible for helping support children with SEN and to manage behaviour in the class. This full-time position requires availability Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm during term time. The role is offered on a long-term basis, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent position for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised support to Key Stage 2 pupils, focusing on those with SEN and behavioural needs.
  • Lead targeted small-group interventions to help students achieve their potential.
  • Offer one-to-one mentoring for children with Autism, ADHD, or lower learning levels.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust strategies as required.
  • Support both students working below age-expected levels and those exceeding expectations.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school's core values.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold a relevant degree or teaching assistant qualification.
  • Have experience working with children in a school setting, particularly in KS2.
  • Possess a solid understanding of SEN and behavioural needs; experience with DSL responsibilities is advantageous.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability to meet the unique needs of individual students.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to support a collaborative learning environment.
