FAMILY PARALEGAL BIRMINGHAM - OFFICE BASEDDouglas Scott are on the look out for an excellent and proactive and self-motivated Paralegal to join our leading client at their office in Birmingham. If you are looking for an opportunity to work within a supportive, ambitious, growing and energetic team, and would like to join an award-winning specialist professional law firm, we would like to hear from you. Duties and responsibilities of the Paralegal in Family:
  • Supporting the Solicitors and Partners within the team with their caseload, but will also offer the opportunity to work independently on a number of varied tasks and matters in appropriate cases.
  • Drafting notices in line with client instructions
  • To register interests on Common Platform regarding criminal matters.  Be familiar with Egress, CJSM and Crown Court Digital Case System
  • Engaging with clients and preparing evidence for court
  • Attending client meetings and assisting colleagues to provide advice on case strategy
  • Identify experts from the Firms Expert Register.  Obtain quotations and secure relevant funding for the same
  • Liaising and sitting behind Counsel in court
  • Preparing trial bundle indexes and bundles
  • Actively participate in meetings
  • Ad Hoc Paralegal admin
Skills Required:
  • Prior Family Paralegal / Assistant experience is essential
  • Competent in all IT applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and a clear communication style (both written and verbal)
  • Good time management skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a range of tasks
  • Commitment to good customer service
  • Good empathy skills and the ability to deal with a range of different personality types when working with clients and witnesses
  • Commitment to meeting or exceeding personal targets
  • Willing to listen and learn
  • Good team player with a willingness to assist colleagues
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, committed and approachable
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when under pressure
