About The Client:
A dynamic and growing law firm based in Birmingham, seeking a talented and experienced Supervising Solicitor to head up their expanding Family Department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about family law and ready to take on a leadership role within a supportive and progressive team.

The Role:
As the Supervising Solicitor, you will take the lead in overseeing and managing the Family Department. You will be responsible for supervising a growing team, as well as managing a caseload across a wide variety of family law matters, including:

  • Care Proceedings and PLO (Public Law Outline) matters
  • Divorce and financial settlements
  • Private Law Children matters
  • Domestic Abuse, Non-Molestation, and Occupation Orders
  • General family matters, including unmarried couples and cohabitation disputes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a growing team of family solicitors and support staff
  • Provide legal expertise across a diverse range of family law matters
  • Maintain and manage your own caseload of family law cases
  • Undertake your own advocacy in relevant cases
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members
  • Contribute to business development and network to attract new clients
  • Ensure the department meets its objectives and targets
  • Be proactive in creating and maintaining a positive, professional environment within the team

Ideal Candidate:

  • 3+ years PQE (Post-Qualification Experience) in family law
  • Children Panel Accredited (preferred)
  • Experienced in handling Care Proceedings, PLO matters, Divorce and Finances, Private Law Children, and Domestic Abuse cases
  • Able to lead a team and work collaboratively to achieve departmental goals
  • Confident in working independently and managing your own caseload
  • Competent and willing to undertake your own advocacy in court
  • Existing client following is preferred, though not essential
  • Motivated to work towards panel accreditation (if not already accredited)
  • Strong networking skills with a passion for creating new business opportunities
