EP Group is an award winning, global packaging manufacturer with production facilities across Europe and South East Asia.

Our global headquarters in Birmingham is home to our dedicated paper manufacturing division providing a wide range of food packaging products for the likes of McDonalds, Amazon, Marks & Spencer and Greggs.

We are now seeking a Class 1 Night Trunker to join our Transport team, based out of our Birmingham Outbase Hub.

The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis, Sunday - Thursday. Guaranteed 50 hours per week. Start times vary between 15:00 and 18:00, rotating weekly.

We offer an excellent package which includes a highly competitive remuneration, night allownce; pension, and 28 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays.

The Role - Class 1 Night Trunker:

  • Responsible for the accurate, safe, and timely transportation of caged/palletised loads from Yardley to Final Mile Outbase
  • Immediately communicate any issues encountered to central Transport hub and keep apprised of actions being taken to resolve.
  • Inspect vehicle for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips and submit a fully completed daily vehicle check sheet.
  • Maintain interior and exterior vehicle cleanliness on a daily basis.
  • Confirm prior to departure that all delivery documentation is available for handing over to Outbase Supervisor and that appropriate paperwork accompanies each trunk and is completed/signed off prior to leaving outbase.
  • When necessary, support Outbase Supervisor with the unloading of trunker and loading of repatriated cages/pallets and report any non-conformance, ensuring any cages/pallets loaded are re-usable.
  • Ensure that legal compliance, Health and Safety regulations and Company procedures are followed at all times.
  • Complete drop point risk assessments as and when required.
  • Feedback any travel/dwell time issues encountered to central Transport hub as they happen.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties required by the company.

The Person - Class 1 Night Trunker:

  • Minimum 2 Years’ HGV 1 (Cat C+E) driving experience
  • Experience of double decker haulage is preferred
  • HGV 1 (Cat C+E) driver licence - clean driver licence required
  • Driver Qualification Card (DQC)
  • Driver Digital Tachograph Card
  • Flexible in hours worked

  • Self-starter - demonstrating an energetic, hands-on approach
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work individually as well as within a team
