Transport Consultant – Public Sector Focus 

Are you an experienced Transport Planner looking for an exciting new challenge?

We are working with a leading independent consultancy specialising in Transport, Placemaking, and Engineering. With a growing portfolio of transport planning projects, our client is seeking a skilled transport planner to join their expanding public sector team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative and impactful projects that aim to create better places through excellent design.

The Role:
The successful candidate will work on a variety of multi-modal transport planning projects, with a particular focus on the public sector. They will take ownership of small to medium-sized commissions and collaborate with both public and private sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver transport strategies, policies, and business cases for public sector clients
  • Develop and advise on funding bids, following Government Business Case guidance (Green Book and TAG)
  • Engage with governance processes and navigate political environments
  • Lead or contribute to bids for local government projects and frameworks
  • Apply national transport policy and planning guidance to projects
  • Collaborate closely with clients and present ideas effectively to both internal and external stakeholders

Key Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification (or higher) in a relevant field
  • Experience working within public sector transport planning or with public sector clients
  • Knowledge of the planning process in England
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Chartership with a relevant professional body is desirable but not essential
