My client have been successfully manufacturing for years in Birmingham and manufacturer specialist metals including Ingot, slab, coil, bar, sheet and more. They supply mainly into the Aerospace industry amongst other industrial sectors. The types of machines you will be working on a day to day basis will be large industrial machines such as die-presses, vacuum/arc furnaces, plasma welders, machine shop including lathes/millers/turners as well as other machinery associated with the heavy industry.

The Plant Engineer is responsible for the Plant Availability, reliability and effectiveness of plant. This includes recognising future improvements and Maintenance requirements and the day to day reliability of aspects of equipment. Elements of project management and being the person with the ideas is exactly what will suit this role.

Experience required for the Senior Mechanical Maintenance engineer:

  • Apprenticeship served as a mechanical maintenance engineer/mechanical engineer
  • Must have experience working in heavy industry ideally five years +
  • A sound understanding of Hydraulic Systems

  • Knowledge of Machinery gearboxes, drives, millers, lathes, bar peelers,

  • Knowledge of Test piece furnaces and laboratory testing equipment.

  • Pneumatic Systems.

  • Cranes and Lifting Equipment

  • A knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulations

  • Be capable of developing Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

  • Redesign equipment and implement modern Engineering systems/solutions

  • Competent in AutoCAD and/or Inventor design software
