A leading manufacturer of specialist construction materials and products is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their Birmingham manufacturing facility. This is a permanent role focused on improving plant performance, maximising production uptime and availability and supporting high value capital projects across the plant.

The Role
The Engineering Manager will coordinate and deliver the site engineering and maintenance plan in accordance with the business strategic plan and the required production volumes. Operating with safety and efficiency at the forefront of your approach, you will ensure that the organisational values are upheld and that the plant safely achieves the maximum machine and process uptime/availability.
The Engineering Manager will lead the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure both planned and reactive maintenance and commissioning works are delivered safely and effectively. You will ensure that all maintenance records are accurately maintained and filed accordingly alongside providing expert mentoring and guidance to the team from both a technical and leadership perspective.
The role requires an effective communication style across all levels of stakeholder engagement and calls for previous experience in managing a budget more than £ 1M for engineering and CAPEX.

The Person
The Engineering Manger will have a proven record in engineering within a manufacturing environment working across rotating shift/continuous process operations. Earlier career experience working hands-on in maintenance or project engineering is highly advantageous for the role in addition to the ability to read technical drawings.
An acute awareness of best practice and positively influencing the best possible behaviours in health, safety and environmental areas is essential for the role alongside demonstrable leadership skills in supporting, motivating, and leading a successful engineering team including maintenance and project engineers.
The Engineering Manager will present a sound knowledge of engineering best practices and be able to integrate modern lean tools and analytical methods into their work. You will have previous experience successfully measuring and improving machine and process uptime for manufacturing processes.
