AV Engineer

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 + Bonuses

About the Company

A leading provider of AV, sound, and lighting solutions within the hospitality and leisure sectors. They specialise in delivering high-quality background music systems, DMX lighting and audio visual installations for bars, restaurants, gyms, pubs and houses of worship.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and servicing of AV systems, including 100v line audio systems, low impedance sound systems, lighting, and AV solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & servicing of speakers, amplifiers, screens, LED videowalls, DMX lighting systems and various other pieces of AV & entertainment technology.
  • Rack building booth in the warehouse & on-site
  • 1st fix cabling installation
  • Reading & interpreting technical drawings
  • Liaising with Project Managers and clients to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Reactive service calls & troubleshooting
  • Commissioning of audio DSPs and DMX lighting systems.
  • Working regionally across the Midlands and North of England with occasional international travel
  • Working as part of an on call rota for one Saturday each month

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience in installing and servicing AV systems
  • Knowledge in background audio systems, lighting & AV
  • DSP / audio commissioning experience (BSS, QSC, Symetrix, Powersoft)
  • Experience in carrying out AV installations within the retail, hospitality or leisure sectors.
  • Understanding of technical drawings & schematics
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of audio
  • Ambitious and keen to learn
  • Fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently & within a team
  • Full UK Driving License

Preferred Experience

  • Lighting programming experience (Avolites, Chamsys)
  • Willingness to work away from home where required

Package

  • Salary between £35K - £45K DOE
  • Annual bonus at manager’s discretion (typically 10% - 20% of salary)
