The Mechanical Design Lead role is a permanent position located in Birmingham, offering a salary range of £50,000 to £65,000 depending on experience.
The ideal candidate should possess at least 3 years of experience in a Design Engineering or CAD Operation role, preferably within an Automation or Special Purpose Machinery environment.
Candidates must be qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field and proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo.
The role involves managing a team of Mechanical Design Engineers, overseeing project milestones, and ensuring effective communication and organization within the team.

They are looking for a Mechanical Design Lead to join their team near Birmingham on a permanent basis.The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
Previous experience in a similar role in an Automation or SPM environment
Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
Leadership qualities, being able to work well and motivate others within the Design Team
Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Proficient using MS Office
Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
Working with the Design Manager in translating conceptual designs into working designs within budget parameters
Managing allocated Mechanical Design Engineers
Overseeing projects to ensure milestones are being hit accordingly
Being involved in final assembly of products
Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
Identifying high risk technical elements of projects and ensuring suitable mitigations are in place to achieve costs and milestones
Providing leadership and motivation for the design team
Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
