Our client is a leading Tier 1 contractor operating within the water industry, delivering innovative and high-quality engineering solutions to major infrastructure projects. They are committed to sustainability, safety, and excellence in every project they undertake.

Role Overview:
As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. With a mechanical or electrical bias, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This hybrid role provides a flexible working arrangement, with a mix of office-based work (South Birmingham), home working, and occasional site visits as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Delivery:
    • Support the end-to-end delivery of water infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with client specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
    • Manage and coordinate design, procurement, and installation activities for mechanical or electrical systems.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Review and approve technical designs, risk assessments, and method statements.
    • Resolve technical challenges during construction, liaising with site teams and suppliers.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain strong working relationships.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and design engineers, to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Site Management:
    • Conduct site visits to oversee installation and commissioning activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
    • Provide technical support during testing and handover phases.
Skills and Experience: Essential:
  • Degree/HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Project Engineer in the water industry (or similar infrastructure sectors).
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical or electrical systems, including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, including health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
Desirable:
  • Familiarity with water-specific regulations (e.g., WIMES).
  • Experience with project management software tools.
  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation (e.g., CEng).
