Your new companyYour New Company:A well-established organisation with over 15 years of experience in commercial, industrial, and residential projects, typically ranging from £2 million to £9 million in value. The company is known for its strong emphasis on quality and innovation in design and construction. Your new roleAs a Design & Estimation Engineer, you will commence projects from the initial stage to fully costed tenders. You will design and develop mechanical and plumbing value-engineered systems for each project, with input from VE options as systems are developed and presented for approval. You will maintain a close working relationship with the Contracts team from start to finish.Main Tasks & Duties:Establish customer enquiries and provide appropriate advice.Collate customer needs, considering cost and environmental value engineering.Create initial design and specification notes.Produce detailed tender stage information, including materials, plant hire, capital plant, sub-contract, and labour rates.Use estimation software to deliver accurate tender bids to clients.Manage the order of enquiry.Put forward proposals and specification reports.Present your project by way of presentation if requested.Provide an understanding of how designed systems will operate.Attend design/estimation meetings with clients.Use design software/guides such as AutoCAD LT, Bentley Hevacomp, CIBSE, BSRIA.Provide and maintain a quality service to the existing client base.Advise on the client's pre-contract project programme, including programming of works on-site.Conduct site surveys with the main contractor or sub-contractors.Follow up on issues as needed.Successfully negotiate with suppliers, sub-contractors, and clients.Control capital plant and equipment in liaison with the design/contracts team.Manage temporary equipment and waste issues.Conduct site surveys to establish customer and company needs.Deliver tenders and designs within an agreed timescale.Actively contribute to team meetings.Raise concerning issues at their onset, such as over-budget matters.Obtain a minimum of three quotes from Hartle Suppliers for project requirements/tender bids.Ensure O&M literature is requested and obtained from suppliers of applicable materials and plant.Assist with variations and pass them onto the contracts team to issue to the client team.Promptly reply to customer concerns and variations.General Responsibilities:Ensure all work related to environmental issues is carried out in accordance with company policy.Complete, record, and file all required paperwork as per company policy and procedures.Adhere to the Quality Management system and report any non-conformance.Be fully conversant with all safety requirements of the site as per Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.Report any health & safety issues to the Department Manager, including accidents and near-miss occurrences.Co-operate with the company on all health & safety requirements.Adhere to company policies and assist in the training of others when required.Contribute to the introduction of new technology and methods of working.Undertake any additional training deemed necessary by the company.What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum of HND in Building Services Engineering (HVAC).
  • Minimum of 5 years industry experience in design and/or estimation.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in managing project programmes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working partnerships with suppliers, sub-contractors, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and environmental legislation.
  • Proficiency in managing site set up and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Ability to source cost-effective suppliers and training providers.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
