The Role

As a Project Manager with a focus on Body In White (BIW) and robotics, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of automation projects, specifically in industries that use industrial robots. This role will require strong project management skills, the ability to manage complex and large-scale projects, and a deep understanding of control systems, PLC, and robot programming. You will manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from quoting to delivery, ensuring projects are on schedule, within budget, and meet the highest standards of quality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead the full lifecycle of automation projects, from initial customer requirements to project completion.
  • Customer and Supplier Management: Communicate with clients and third-party suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and met.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks, maintaining a Risk & Issue Log and implementing contingency plans.
  • Project Planning & Monitoring: Use MS Project and Prince2 principles to plan, monitor, and report project progress.
  • Team Leadership: Manage multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring high levels of collaboration and efficient workflow.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all project documentation is filed in line with company policies and provide weekly progress reports.
  • Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors and key stakeholders.
  • Technical and Operational Leadership: Lead the technical and operational aspects of projects, ensuring alignment with established change control processes.
  • Compliance: Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Project Management Experience: Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in an industrial automation environment.
  • Controls & Robotics Expertise: Strong background in industrial automation systems, including PLC and robot programming. Experience managing projects involving a high number of industrial robots is essential.
  • Industry Experience: Expertise in Body In White (BIW), Closures, Paint, or Battery manufacturing environments.
  • Project Quoting & Variations: Experience with quoting jobs, managing variations, and ensuring accurate cost management.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, to manage and track project timelines and resources.
  • Travel Flexibility: Ability to commute to the office in Kings Norton and travel to customer sites as required across the UK.
  • Valid UK Driving License: A current driving license is mandatory.
