Join our skilled team in Birmingham as a 2nd Line WAN Network Engineer. This role is crucial for supporting and configuring SRX series routers as part of our BAU operations, ensuring the global delivery of secure network services. If you are an experienced network engineer, this is your opportunity to manage and maintain our Customer Network WAN estate and contribute to project implementations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide technical network support and handle escalations within the network operations.
  • Manage and maintain the configuration of network devices, focusing on Juniper SRX series routers.
  • Work closely with 1st line engineers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills.
  • Collaborate with 3rd line engineers to share knowledge and improve the overall capability of the 2nd line team.
  • Participate in project implementations, ensuring effective integration and functionality of network services.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the stability and security of the network infrastructure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a 2nd line network engineer, specifically with Juniper network devices.
  • In-depth knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting Juniper SRX and MX platforms.
  • Strong command line interface (CLI) skills.
  • Solid understanding of routing and switching protocols.
  • Expertise in BGP, including policy-based routing, attribute manipulation, load-balancing techniques, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting IPsec VPNs and MPLS networks.
  • Good understanding of PKI infrastructure and experience with certificate-based VPN authentication.
