Exam Invigilator - Seasonal Role (Full/Part-Time or Adhoc Shifts)

Location: Birmingham

Monarch Education is seeking reliable and organised Exam Invigilators to support the administration of exams in various schools across Birmingham. This seasonal role is ideal for individuals looking for flexible working hours, with both full-time and part-time roles available, or adhoc shifts that can fit around your availability. Full training on exam regulations will be provided, ensuring you are fully prepared to support the smooth running of exam periods.



Key Responsibilities of an Exam Invigilator:

Exam Supervision:

  • Ensure a calm and quiet environment is maintained throughout the exam period, preventing any disturbances.
  • Supervise students in exam rooms, ensuring they follow exam regulations and remain focused.
  • Verify student identities and ensure they are seated correctly according to exam seating plans.
  • Distribute, collect, and account for exam papers and materials in a secure and organised manner.
  • Ensure all students follow the correct exam procedures, including the use of permitted materials and adhering to time limits.

Adherence to Exam Regulations:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of exam regulations, ensuring the correct procedures are followed during each exam.
  • Monitor students for any form of cheating or malpractice and report any incidents to the exam board or school leadership.
  • Ensure that exam rooms are properly set up before the start of each exam, including checking that the correct papers and equipment are available.
  • Deal with any unexpected issues in a professional and calm manner, such as late arrivals or student illness.

Support for Students:

  • Provide support to students in a respectful manner, ensuring they understand their responsibilities and the rules for the exam.
  • Respond to any student queries regarding exam protocols, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate person if needed.
  • Ensure that any special arrangements for students with additional needs are implemented according to instructions.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students during the exam period.
  • Report any issues or incidents during the exam to the appropriate staff promptly.
  • Ensure that students leave the exam room in an orderly manner, maintaining security and confidentiality of materials.


Key Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Previous experience as an Exam Invigilator is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting is beneficial but not required.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a calm, professional, and authoritative presence in an exam setting.
