Job Description:

As an Primary SEND Support Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing tailored support and guidance to young learners with SEND within our vibrant primary resource provision. You’ll work closely with permanant staff, SEND coordinators, and external professionals to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can thrive. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to children with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans and interventions that support the academic, social, and emotional development of children with SEND.
  • Implementing sensory integration techniques, communication strategies, and behaviour management techniques to support children with diverse needs.
  • Facilitating positive interactions and social skills development through structured play and group activities.
  • Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting children with SEND both in school and at home.
  • Providing compassionate personal care to pupils, for example nappy changing and assistance with toileting.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children with SEND, particularly with primary aged students.
  • A sound understanding of primary curriculum frameworks and strategies for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Empathy, patience, and a positive attitude towards supporting the unique abilities and challenges of children with SEND.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting children with SEND, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (SEND pathway), is desirable but not essential.
