Tradewind Recruitment are working with an inner city primary school in Birmingham who are currently looking for a full time School Caretaker.

As a Caretaker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, security, and cleanliness of our school premises. Your commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our students and staff will contribute to the overall success of our school.
As you will be responsible for the opening and closing of the site you will need to commit to split shifts whihc will be 6am - 10am / 2:30pm - 6:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:* Security and Safety:* Conduct regular security checks of the school premises, including doors, windows, and gates.* Ensure all entrances and exits are secure and safe.* Respond promptly to security alarms and emergencies and liaise with relevant authorities if necessary.* Implement and maintain fire safety procedures and equipment.* Maintenance and Repairs:* Perform routine maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work.* Address minor repairs promptly and report major maintenance issues to the appropriate authorities.* Keep records of maintenance and repair work carried out.* Cleaning and Hygiene:* Oversee the cleanliness and hygiene of classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and common areas.* Ensure that cleaning schedules are followed and cleaning supplies are well-stocked.* Assist with waste management and recycling efforts.* Groundskeeping:* Maintain the school grounds, including lawn care, gardening, and snow removal when necessary.* Ensure the playground equipment is safe and in good working condition.* Report any hazards or damage to outdoor facilities.* Health and Safety Compliance:* Implement health and safety policies and procedures.* Conduct risk assessments and take appropriate measures to minimize risks.* Keep records of health and safety checks and inspections.* Supervision and Teamwork:* Work closely with other staff members, including the school leadership team.* Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when necessary.* Provide support during school events and activities.Qualifications and Skills:* Previous experience in a caretaker, or facilities management role, in an educational setting.* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.* Basic maintenance skills in plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.* Excellent organizational and communication skills.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.* Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.* A commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
